Last weekend, Mike was a guest at BayCon, a local science fiction convention. Here are some shots of Zach in the hotel room at the con. That's his name badge (and assorted decorative ribbons) he's wearing in the second and third shots.
And in his little chair (which was Talia's little chair when she was growing up.)
All done with pictures, beddy-bye time!
Week ending June 14th, 2008. Zachary is 16 and a half months year old. Zachary looking winsome:
...And Zachary looking downright pleased as punch in his high chair:
Zach likes to help out around the house with the dusting. Are we raising this kid right, or what?
Hanging out with one of his best buds, Gavin:
Some bedroom shots: On this morning, Zachary slept with his face on top of his hands. Note the red handprints on the side of his face!
Playing with mommy's Visor and talking to us:
Here in the video clip of the week, he's in bed demonstrating many of his skills: Talking, ("da-da," 'though he says "daddy too, and quite clearly!), standing, crawling, turning on and off the radio, dancing, and using sign lanuage to say "all done!"... and all while holding his PDA! Lying on mommy's body under the sheets:
And pounting about something sad, 'though mean ol' mommy finds whatever it was to be pretty funny.
Zachary looking exceptionally cool in his Hawaiian shirt and hip shades at a picnic:
And then on the way home from a long day outdoors, time to nap:
Bye-bye! June 24th, 2008. Zachary is 17 months year old. We went to the Northern California Pirate Festival in Vallejo. Here we all are in our pirate garb. We taught Zachary to say "Ahrrrrr" like a good pirate. Here we all are saying it together:
Here's Zachary and mommy on a really warm day:
And here's Gramps reading Zach a story:
But wait! Look! There are buttons here!
And time for some videos. A couple of Zachary walking... And Zachary playing peek-a-boo when he's overly tired and punchy: July 12th, 2008. Zachary is 17 and a half months year old. We went to a playground where Zach had a lot of fun on a bouncy-ride thingie:
For July 4th, we went down to L.A. for Bubbie's 88th Birthday to celebrate (excuse me, Sylabrate) and spend time with the family down there.
Here's Judi in the pool with Zacahry. They had a heated pool that Zach wasn't sure about last visit but loved this time around.
On the Santa Monica Pier Boardwalk, Lois accompanied Zach on a ride with Zach at the wheel:
And some group family shots showing all four generations:
And our obligatory video of the week of Zach toddling: July 27th, 2008. Zachary is exactly a year and a half old today!
An impish smile:
Ransacking (and trying on) Daddy's shoes:
Our neighbors Steve and Sueta loaned us this doll that they used to familiarize their son Devon - just a little older than Zachary - with the idea of having a new baby sister around. Now that Kaelin has arrived, they have the real thing and the doll isn't as important so they loaned it to Zach. He loves it, and is enjoying feeding her milk (or making us do it.) Don't get any ideas, though, Zachary will be an only child for a long while yet.
And some videos... Zach having fun peeking in and out of the door to the backyard. When you hear the loud plane in the end, note that Zach makes the sign language sign for 'airplane,' with his hand arcing over his head. Clever guy! And Zach being very silly going back and forth this morning. That's the fan remote control he's holding. August 13th, 2008. Zach and his friend Atticus hanging out with Mommy:
Toddlers pick up the habits of the adults around them. Here, Zach is deeply engrossed in a good book while sitting on the potty:
A few shots of playing on the upended stroller while at the Oberlin alumni picnic:
And some shots of Zachary on various chairs in the Living Room, looking both boisterous and just plain cute!
August 22nd, 2008. Mike's father Rodger - Zachary's Baba Raja - and his wife Annie - or Granny Annie came to visit this past week, bringing along, among other things, a new toy car for Zach.
And then here are some pictures without Dad and Annie, of Zachary just being Zachary:
And lastly, our son, the narcissist: September 2nd, 2008. Zachary is 19 months old. Yesterday was Labor Day, and a gorgeous sunny day, so we joined the crowds at the beach in alameda. The sand-bars blocked off a patch of beach, creating this inlet of shallow water for Zach to play in. (He didn't mind splashing around in the waves along the beach either.)
Zachary with Daddy's socks on, revisiting the leg-warmers of the '80s. In this first picture, he's making the sign for "socks."
With Mommy in bed:
Look, I've got TWO hats on!
And sunglasses that he got at Isabella's birthday party. You won't see these again: He broke them almost immediately after, and this was the only time he actually wore them.
Lying on the ground:
And reading a good book while sitting onm the bottom of Toby's now-unused bird-cage stand.
(No, we didn't pose him there, he climbed up on his own. He does that.) September 12th, 2008.
